How to Get Started on In-Office Marketing Efforts [VIDEO]

As mentioned in the previous video in this series, marketing a dental practice doesn’t have to be on your shoulders alone!

You can (and should!) get your team involved in a variety of marketing efforts, including creating videos, asking for reviews, talking about your referral program, contributing to social media, and more.

But that raises a good question:

How do you get started?

Let’s be real: Sometimes the first step is the hardest step.

In this short video, Whitney shares a couple of tried-and-true tips our practices have found successful to begin to create a marketing mindset within the practice.

The best way to get started is to break up this big, large, overwhelming idea into smaller, actionable ideas.

So, for example, let’s say that you want to produce media and create content that answers patient questions.

See who on your team can get involved in helping to create those videos and blog posts, even live casts.

Plan out and brainstorm different ideas of content that you could cover.

And then delegate!

Get different ones involved in actually producing the videos. It can be very simple. No special equipment needed. Have some fun with it and just get started. That’s the hardest part — but just get started.

And get your team involved.

Get them involved in the brainstorming and the planning because you just never know what kind of great ideas they might be able to bring to the table.

We like to recommend, too, prioritizing. Don’t try to tackle everything at once.

Pick one thing that you and your team can really get started with, nail that! And then tackle something different.

We recommend breaking up your priorities by quarters. Just focus on one effort each quarter.

And then, over time as you get more comfortable, it’s going to be much easier to be able to try and implement new things.

Creating a marketing mindset within the practice

The more you and your team discuss marketing ideas, the more top-of-mind marketing will become for your entire team.

Ideally, you want to create a culture where everyone feels the responsibility to help promote the brand – and have fun doing so!

Here’s a bonus tip to help you kick off that marketing culture:

Set up a marketing station

A marketing station should be an easy, grab-and-go kit for your team to quickly grab when marketing moments strike. Your marketing station can contain a variety of different items, but here are a few of our top suggestions:

  • A dedicated tablet or phone for taking photos
  • Photo release forms
  • A ring light
  • Props and signs for photos
  • Cards with information about your current campaign, referral program, contest, and/or how to leave a review

The sky is the limit! Ultimately, a marketing station is just one more visual reminder to help your team make these in-office marketing efforts easy and attainable.
