The Right Way to Connect With Your Community

A dental marketing strategy should include six main points to help you ATTRACT attention, NURTURE relationships, and create loyal customers. Today we’ll focus on one point: How to connect with your community – the RIGHT way. (Need a refresher on what those six points are? Read this post to catch up.)

How to Connect with Your Community

Connect with your community: Socially speaking

When it comes to using social media in your marketing strategy, you might be focused on this question:

“How can I use social media to promote my practice?”

Really, though, the question we SHOULD focus on is:

“What do my followers actually want to see?”

What are your patients interested in? What do you and your team chat about with them when they’re in the dental chair? Hint: It’s not ALL crowns and cavities. Think about what families in your community really care about – and then share THAT on social media and your blog.

Your content shouldn’t always be about you, you, you. It should be useful, relevant, and even entertaining to the people that follow you. As long as it’s in line with your brand and it’s something your audience will engage with, there’s nothing wrong with sharing content that doesn’t have anything to do with your services.

Why? First of all, your followers are probably not that interested in seeing content about teeth all the time. Second, you’re sharing things that actually matter to them. The best part? No matter what the post is about, users will see YOUR brand with every interaction.

Moz sums it up perfectly: “Isn’t there tremendous value in simply putting your name in front of users every day? Isn’t this Branding 101? Who cares if you’re not talking about your product?” Moz | The Buzzfeed Approach to Social Media

What are the benefits?

  • You’ll get more engagement because your followers actually CARE about what you’re sharing.
  • You’ll gain trust because you’re not just promoting yourself all the time.
  • You’ll deepen your relationships with the businesses and organizations you promote.
