We’ve been doing this since 1999 – before Google was around – and there were a lot of doctors who just didn’t think it would EVER be necessary to have a website.
There was a time when a lot of doctors didn’t think they needed to worry about the way their website looked on a mobile device. Now, 70-80% of traffic is coming from mobile.
There was a time when a lot of doctors didn’t want online reviews out of fear of getting a bad review. Now, you simply can’t survive without a strong online reputation.
There was a time when a lot of doctors didn’t think they needed to be on social media. (Some still think this way.) But the reality is it has become an integral piece of the patient experience and your overall brand.
Each of those things was considered a “trend” at one point.
Now they’re essentials that we take for granted.
And the doctors who got in from the very beginning are the ones who have been the most successful across the board.

There are three trends that we anticipate being really strong this year.
Marketing with love
And the first one is building strong relationships. Another way that we describe this is Marketing with Love.
Really thinking about who you serve, why you serve them, and how you can deliver amazing value to them – not only in your marketing, but also in your day-to-day communications.
Be a media creator
The second trend that we anticipate being really strong is that of creating media.
This supports trend #1, because you’re already building relationships day in and day out.
Now just think about how to translate that online — answering patient questions through blog posts, videos, even livecasts on Facebook or YouTube — thinking about how to really strengthen those relationships by producing content that your patients really want and need.
Offer instant gratification
And then that third trend is instant gratification: Communicating with your patients in the way that they want to be communicated with.
And, in a lot of ways, that’s going to be text messaging and webchat. We want patients to be able to book appointments, get their questions answered, even pay their bills. And there’s different platforms that enable you to do that through texting and webchat.
